Data-Centre Power and Cooling Design in India
Data-centre engineering translates the owner’s IT load, rack-density profile, growth plan and availability objective into coordinated power, cooling, fire, hydraulic and controls systems. The design basis should state confirmed inputs, assumptions and responsibility boundaries.
Power topology and cooling must develop together
Utility capacity, standby generation, UPS architecture, distribution paths and A/B segregation affect space, heat rejection and phasing. Cooling solutions must address sensible heat, environmental limits, redundancy, part-load efficiency, containment and equipment maintenance without compromising live operation.
Plan for failure, maintenance and growth
Single points of failure, concurrent maintenance routes and future expansion should be reviewed through system diagrams, failure scenarios and coordinated layouts. BIM can support segregation, plant access, containment, riser and replacement-route reviews.
Requirements such as Uptime Institute Tier objectives, TIA-942, ASHRAE guidance, NFPA standards or ISO management systems may apply where specified by the client or authority. Their mention does not imply that JEC is accredited or that a project is certified.
